John G. Mason was born in Hiram Ohio in 1832. He was the son of Carnot and Olive Mason, and the grandson of Elijah and Lucretia Mason. Elijah, a Revolutionary War soldier from Connecticut via Vermont and Carnot were two of the founders of the village of Hiram. John married Emily Allyn (b. 1839) in 1856. Emily was the daughter of Pelatiah Allyn, Jr. who along with John's father Carnot served on the building committee of the Western Reserve Eclectic Institute which later became Hiram ...
